Hi! I'm Bethany! I'm the Birth Doula behind Heaven's Helping Hands Doula Services.

Since becoming pregnant with my first baby eight years ago, I have been someone who habitually studies about everything birth related, and loves talking birth to anyone interested! I am very passionate about Mothers knowing all of their options when it comes to birth, and being in full control of their birth experience.

I have given birth four times with a midwife at home, and I have four beautiful children. I have also breastfed all four children, and have personal experience with several unique nursing situations, including nursing during pregnancy.

Over the past several years, I assisted a handful of births (both hospital and home) for family members before becoming interested in pursuing official certification as a Birth Doula, and opening Heaven's Helping Hands Doula Services in July 2023. Since then, I have been able to follow my passion and serve even more Mothers during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. I am also currently pursuing my Advanced VBAC Doula Certification.

My Christian faith is very important to me and something that I hope to do through my Doula practice is in some small way to be the hands and feet of Jesus. The term Doula means "A woman who serves", and the Bible instructs us to serve one another in love in Galatians 5:13-14.

If this little snapshot about me has made you feel that I may be a good fit for you, I look forward to meeting you, and chatting about your birth goals and how I can serve you!

I always offer free consultations in person at a local coffee shop, or via Zoom. You can contact me by phone at 706-934-0814, or email me at heavenshelpinghandsdoula@gmail.com to set up an appointment for a consultation.

I reside in Dalton, Georgia and I serve a 100 mile radius from my home that includes North Georgia, East Tennessee, and Northeast Alabama. Contact me for further details on service areas.

As a Mother and a Doula, I look forward to offering personalized birthing support to fit your needs. My goal is to give you and your family the resources you need to make informed decisions about your pregnancy and labor process. In my opinion, there is no greater honor than supporting a Mother through pregnancy and childbirth. I received my doula certification through A Woman Who Serves Doula Training, and I have served at both homebirths and hospital births.

I strongly believe in the importance of retaining the autonomy of Mothers throughout birth, persistently protecting the atmosphere of the birthing space, supporting couples as a unit, and assisting the empowerment of Mothers through supporting the birth that they desire.

SUPPORT SERVICES

What I Do

Untitled

PRENATAL VISITS

I typically provide three prenatal visits for each pregnancy.

With my Prenatal Visits, I offer support to you and your family before birth. I will stay in close contact in order to routinely check how you’re doing and step in with anything you might need. My goal is to better understand how I can serve you throughout your pregnancy and birth. I will also assist you in creating a Birth Plan, and preparing you for labor through answering any questions you may have, and providing educational resources. I will also provide comfort measures to utilize during labor and delivery.

LABOR SUPPORT

Labor support covers up to 24 hours of service from me on your big day. It also includes me being on call for you 24/7 from 37-42 weeks of pregnancy.

My role at your birth is to support you and your partner in any way possible until your precious baby arrives. I will also strive to ensure that your wishes are respected and honored by everyone in attendance at your birth, and that you feel empowered and heard through anything that happens. I will strive to keep your birthing space as calm and relaxing as possible to help ensure that you feel safe and comfortable.

POSTPARTUM SUPPORT

One or two Post-partum Visits after birth is what I typically provide. If you feel that more support is needed, we can discuss arrangements.

My role with my Postpartum Support is to ensure you get the best care possible while you recover from birth. Pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period can be exhausting. My assistance can look like holding a baby while you nap, giving tips to help with your breastfeeding journey, discussing your birth experience, preparing nutritious meals for your family, or doing household chores so that you can spend your first days of postpartum in, around and near your bed, resting your body and mind.

My support throughout a pregnancy, birth and postpartum typically includes three prenatal visits, up to 24 hours of labor support, and one or two post-partum visits, and can be adjusted to fit your specific needs.

"If any mamas in the North Georgia or East Tennessee area are looking for a doula, I highly recommend Bethany Roberts (Heaven's Helping Hands Doula Services LLC)!
She was my doula, and I can honestly say, I could not have had the natural birth that I wanted without her.
She was constantly encouraging me, helping me to understand the medical side of things, and giving me advice. It was a long labor (39 hours), and she stayed by my side the whole time. Not to mention, she was a big help to my husband as well.
I'm very thankful that she was willing to be my doula (on pretty short notice) and for all of the support she has given me these past few months!"

"I cannot say enough good things about Bethany during my birth experience. It was definitely not the typical situation, and ended in a C-section. She was with me supporting me and whatever decision my husband and I made. After our son was born, she stayed up all night with my baby so I could sleep for a few minutes at a time. She would feed my baby for me while I was sleeping (he had difficulty nursing), got a notebook to keep up with how much he was taking in, and took care of cleaning pump supplies. She was there for me and my baby even on one of her own baby's birthday. On the way home from the hospital, she stopped by the store to pick up a breast pump and other nursing supplies for us. After we were home, she still checked on us, though she gave us a little needed space. She even went to town to get some things for me when my blood pressure was acting up. I'm telling you, it's too much to list what she did for me. She's just amazing!"

WHAT EXACTLY ARE THE BENEFITS OF A BIRTH DOULA, AND HOW DO THEY IMPACT YOUR BIRTH?

Numerous studies have documented the benefits of having a doula present during labor. A recent Cochrane Review, Continuous Support for Women During Childbirth, showed a very high number of positive birth outcomes when a doula was present. With their support, women were less likely to have pain-relief medications administered and less likely to have a cesarean birth. Women also reported having a more positive childbirth experience.
Other studies have shown that having a doula as a member of the birth team decreases the overall cesarean rate by 50%, the length of labor by 25%, the use of oxytocin by 40%, and requests for an epidural by 60%.
